Read and report on one young adult book found on the YALSA website (http://www.ala.org/yalsa/booklistsawards/booklistsbook) or a book referred to within the textbook. Create a 10-15-slide PowerPoint presentation that includes the following for the selection: Title, author, publisher, date in correct APA format, and an image of the book jacket Reading level Genre Overview of plot Theme(s) Include a distinct and important passage for this book. Provide background on the author such as short biography, highlights on website, and other written works Has this book been challenged? If so, upon what grounds was it challenged? What interdisciplinary connections can be made to this book? What kind of reader might enjoy this book? Would this be a good text with which to engage a reluctant reader? Why or why not? Discuss why this book must be in the secondary English teacher’s classroom. Find a sample detailed lesson plan idea that might help engage the students with the content of this book. You may adapt a lesson you find online; be sure to properly cite and reference your source. Refer to the Sample Final Project, which is provided as an example of the Final Project Presentation. GCU format is required for essays only. Solid academic writing is always expected. For all assignment delivery options, documentation of sources should be presented using GCU formatting guidelines, which can be found in the GCU Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
