The affluent and opulent people in society are among the few individuals that enjoy seeing life from a different mirror. These category of people are privileged to have an ocean of wealth that allows them to enjoy the niceties of life. However, there are many misconceptions that are directed towards the rich people in any community. These stereotypes have even made some individuals believe that rich people are actually immortal. Another group of people believe that the wealthy do not face the same problems like others do. This eventually makes the affluent class of people being perceived in a different light from the rest. This paper is an essay that analyses some of the stereotypes that are often directed towards the rich and wealthy.Wealthy/Rich People Stereotyping Essay Paper

Thesis Statement: The mindset is a tool that can mislead people into believing some of the most bizarre concepts that exists within the human race.

Wealthy/Rich People Stereotyping

The society has for the longest time used different eyes to view people who are considered opulent and prosperous. This people are accorded different treatment when it comes to greetings, hosting at communal events or even receiving service in public forums (Dodson 2013, p. 257).  There are various stereotypes that are directed towards the rich people. One of the most common stereotypes of the rich is the fact that people believe that they swim in giant pools filled with money. The larger public believes that the rich are often surrounded by money in practically all the places that they visit. The truth of the matter is that affluent individuals either safely tuck their money in the bank or invest it in a worthy cause where it continues to multiply (Cox et al 2015, p. 18). As such, their money is tied up in a financial institution or in a devoted place where it serves the function of improving the standard of living of other people.

The reasons for stereotyping of wealthy or rich people stems from the fact that they all have houses in all the fancy cities and expensive places in the world. The truth of the matter is that the rich only buy homes in places where they believe that they can get the best kind of life that they want (Cox et al 2015, p. 18).  This means that an opulent person only commits themselves into buying a house if they think it will serve as a good vacation home or if its size is big enough to host the entire family (Burkley et al 2013, p. 19).  As such, it is often overrated that rich people have more than five hundred homes scattered across the entire continent. In as much as this can be true, only a small proportion of people actually own a huge number of homes and they belong to the extremely and filthy rich individuals.Wealthy/Rich People Stereotyping Essay Paper

Additionally, the wealthy and rich are often stereotyped such that people believe that their bodies have a different make up and composition such that they are not attacked by the same illnesses that others suffer from occasionally (Burkley et al 2013, p. 19).  What’s more, the affluent are categorized as people that only suffer from rich-like diseases that are only existent within this class. The truth is that the rich and wealthy have the same genetic composition and physiological anatomy just like any other person. This means that they are prone to falling sick if they do not observe nutritional health or if they do not take proper care of their bodies (Cartwright and Wooder 2014, p. 26).Wealthy/Rich People Stereotyping Essay Paper

Rich people have also been labelled as people that have all their problems solved and they never undergo mental torture trying to find solutions to their challenges. However, rich people are in fact some of the individuals that are faced with the largest number of problems. The most common one is that the wealthy are always thinking of ways to make more money or are worried that the money they have can disappear at any moment. This means that these problems cannot be easily solved as it is difficult to convince the rich to stop worrying or stressing about their money (Horwitz et al 2014, p. 991).  As such, it is just a misguided belief that the rich do not have problems. In reality, their lives do not change ones they become rich and the same problems that they had still persist. The magnitude is the only thing that changes where the rich are faced with more problems that they previously had.Wealthy/Rich People Stereotyping Essay Paper

Another misguided belief is the fact that the wealthy and rich are ill-advised into believing that everyone will be happy with their new found wealth. The truth is that people do not celebrate when people become happy and instead they see them as the cause of the world’s evils and vices (Green 2015, p. 26). This is because the majority of people believe that rich people obtained their wealth by either stealing from others or grabbing from them.

The effects and results of stereotyping of wealthy or rich people are that people believe that they are more superior than others. Their genes are believed to have more power compared to those of the underprivileged (Green 2015, p. 26).

Furthermore, the affluent and wealthy are often stereotyped as people that spend all their lives vacationing or throwing extravagant parties all the time. Only a small proportion of this is true such that the rich only travel very seldom and do the funny activities for a short while. After a period of time, this routine becomes boring and they end up focusing on the things that they enjoying doing and the activities that make them happy (Dodson 2013, p. 257). What’s more, people stereotype the rich as people that lack self-initiative because most of them inherited their wealth or were born with a silver spoon. In actual sense, there are many rich people who were born in an impoverished background and have had to work their way to the top.

The best solution for stereotyping of wealthy or rich people is that people should get rid of their misguided mindsets that makes them believe they are superior to others. Instead, they should develop a positive attitude that can steer them into working hard and becoming members of the elite society (Cox et al 2015, p. 18). This can help is getting rid of all the stereotypes that are directed towards the rich and wealthy.Wealthy/Rich People Stereotyping Essay Paper

In summary, opulent and wealthy people are normal people and their only difference is the fact that they are financially privileged. This group of people faces a lot of stereotyping from the greater public who often believe that their lives are devoid of problems. The truth of the matter is that the rich actually face lot of challenges that increase the more they amass wealth. Most people think that the rich enjoy a smooth life because all their persistent difficulties are solved by other people. This is just a misconception and misguided belief since all the rich people have problems just like everyone else. The best solution into solving the issue of stereotyping of wealthy or rich people is that people should drop their confused mentalities and learn that they can also become affluent if they are determined and focused.Wealthy/Rich People Stereotyping Essay Paper
